New Member Information
Welcome...
The Elk Grove Education Association (EGEA) is the exclusive bargaining agent for certificated staff in the Elk Grove Unified School District.
Becoming a Member: You are NOT automatically enrolled as a member of EGEA. You must submit an application to join. All new hires to the EGUSD attend an orientation at the time of contract signing. You can become a member of EGEA/CTA/NEA at any time with an online form you can access HERE. Contact Emily at emily@elkgroveeducators.org or 916-685-4588 with questions or for more information.
Disability Insurance: CTA/EGEA members have an opportunity to purchase disability insurance via the CTA approved vendor, The Standard Disability Insurance Company. Members new to the district have 270 days to enroll in disability without having to answer medical questions. You can learn more and access the link to the online form HERE. If you would like more information or have questions, please contact the EGEA Office at 916-685-4588 or emily@elkgroveeducators.org.
Catastrophic Leave Bank: The Catastrophic Leave Bank was created to provide employees with financial support in the event of a catastrophic illness for either themselves or an immediate family member. All unit members on active duty with the District are eligible to contribute to the EGEA Catastrophic Leave Bank if they have accrued a minimum of 10 days of sick leave. Employees must initially enroll during the open enrollment window, between July 1 and October 1, each year by donating either one or two days of sick leave. If the days in the Catastrophic Bank fall below 1,000, an additional day of contribution will be required of all participants. Click HERE to learn more about the Catastrophic Leave Bank and access the enrollment form. Contact the HR department at the EGUSD District Office if you have further questions. Enrollment forms should be submitted to Human Resources.
EGUSD Wellness Rebate: Employees of the EGUSD who complete a few simple wellness steps each year, can receive up to 5% of the paid premium for their health care back in the form of a rebate. Employees can complete these steps each calendar year. Refer to the EGUSD Wellness Program website for details.
New Educator Orientation: In what has become an annual event, EGEA welcomes new educators to the district at a New Educator Reception. Held at the EGEA Office, new educators can earn 1.5 hours of professional development credit while meeting EGEA and District leaders, learn about EGEA as an association, and find out the benefits of being a member. Check PL Essentials for this year's orientation dates.
